B.o.B - Just A Sign
(music video)

Feel good video through and through! The concept, the setting, the performances, the camera work, it all just comes together. We had lots of logistical changes, and other unexpected happenings, but we still shot this whole thing in a single afternoon and came away with a dope 6 minute music video. Not an easy task! For those curious, it features the Fisker Karma. It has full electric capabilities, and a gas tank if you want to go past your charge. Fun to drive the PCH when we weren't filming. Not too terrible looking either.

Paranoid Castle - Weedman
(music video)

While shooting this video... I got injured on set and wound up on the living room floor with my pants off trying to diagnose the problem looking up at a giant oil painting of Paris Hilton (it was her old house). Kind of epic... haha..... The video is funny too I swear.

Freestyle Fellowship -
This Write Here
(music video)

Freestyle Fellowship... Word up mayhem! I developed the pulsing negative/positive, on/off look with inspiration from their black and white FF logo which starts everything off. Lyrically, this right here is top of the rap game.

Gel Roc - Trust To Dust
(music video)

Great song with a cool message behind it all. Visually, I'm quite pleased with the look. In college, we shot a scene of a film in a cemetery and the developed 16mm footage had unexplainable light leaks and optical oddities. Here, I've used Black and white visuals with color light leaks and lens flares to reference an energy beyond this world.

Freestyle Fellowship -
We Are (music video)

Thanks to Freestyle Fellowship for going along with the technical challenges and methodical approach and execution of this video. I wanted to create a world of forced perspective and twisted reality, and it took 6 cameras and a lot of patience to do so... All worth it, I must say!

Gel Roc - Why's Are Real
(music video)

The narrative that Gel Roc paints in this track is definitely a Beautiful Tragedy. It was therapeutic and rewarding on many levels to be working on this project while facing similar issues in my own life. If you have a chance, send this video to a friend and introduce them to Gel's music, its all so good.

Unkle - Natural Selection (music video)

When I heard the track, this idea jumped out at me almost instantly. Like the music, the narrative was primal and raw, but told by an innocent voice. I think it really came together in the edit. Being a vegetarian of 31 years, I am truly out of place in a world like this.

Abstract Rude - Nuff Fire (music video)

I wanted to build on the iconography associated with psychedelia, the 60's-70's peace and freedom movements, and the visual aesthetic linked to soul, rock and early funk music, bringing bits and pieces of each into the modern world of digital imagery. Part of what appeals to me from that era are the imperfections of color and texture (as seen in hand-made posters, screen printing and tie-dye). This was an aesthetic I wanted to translate into the digital domain. In this vein, I attempted to exploit compression artifacts, color banding, chroma noise, pixelation and other digital "limitations", magnifying them for visual gain.

This project was a lot of fun - good music and good vibes. Special thanks to Mike for helping out with those damn boomboxes. All the B-boys and B-girls, you ripped it! I wish I could have fit more of that footage in the video.

B.o.B - Camera
(music video)

Its another viral video hit. A great track from B.o.B and a special opportunity for me to attempt a combination which is rarely successful on screen, the elusive balance between sex appeal and comedy. The results? 100,000+ views in its first day online.

Great working with all involved! Shouts to B. Rich!

Bicycle Anthem
(commercial)

Many of us make a simple decision each day which increases our carbon footprint on the earth. This video presents the bicycle as an environmental and social hero, as a viable solution to our urgent transportation needs. After all, in order to alleviate the global climate crisis, we don't have to reinvent the wheel.

Busdriver
Imaginary Places
(music video)

Released in 2002! This was the first project I directed out of film school. Seems to be just as relevant now. Its raw and full of energy. I still remember finishing the edit, outputting to VHS(!) and running the tape over to Peter Agoston just as he was cueing up the Culturama Rap Music Video Festival in LA. That night, Imaginary Places screened to an audience of 25+ after midnight - I'll always remember! Now we are 600,000 views later on youtube...
